How Organisms Move
Connecting basic physics with biological systems to examine the principles of organismal movement. Course provides a quantitative and analytical foundation in the major modes of locomotion, such as flight, swimming, and walking, then applies this foundation to broader issues in science and society, such as the development of biologically-inspired mechanisms and the impact of climate change on organismal movement. Foundational lecture presentations, in-class group problem-solving and projects, and R-computer programming. Prerequisite: Biology 201L and 202L, and Physics 141L or the equivalent. Instructor: Patek.
